Padi dan pantai

Great day yesterday, starting to feel more like a sauna. We took an afternoon walk through the rice fields to the beach, such amazing country side. Glowing green fields and dusty little villages. For some of the new kids this was their first time ever at the beach or even swimming as a lot of them come from central Timor. Its a pretty amazing watching their reactions. Heading back to the beach for a soccer game this arvo and may head up to Keffa early next week. I started the video interviews with some of the boys, they're telling me stories from their home town or other places.

Timor

Sweating away in the heat in Kupang at the moment. Has been so good to see all the kids again and meet all the new ones. Loads of laughs and a heap of photo's. They're loving it, i brought a heap of prints with me which they're all thought was pretty cool.
The new rooms are going up fine, we'll be laying the floors, tiling and painting.
Took a trip upto Soe (central west timor) yesterday, about half the kids at the orphanage are from that area. Ate a couple pet pigeons and a heap of other interesting things.
I love this place, and all the kids. Look forward to sharing the pics of their beautiful faces and interesting places.

Off to Timor today. Time for some serious heat and photography action as well as some timor style building action, the plan is to finish building 4 new bedrooms and 2 new bathrooms for the orphange as its getting full, heaps of new kids. I'll also be working on getting the kids to talk about their photos in video interviews and of course loads more pics that I will post up when I return home, or of course there's the exhibition if your in Perth in April.

Its been so good catching up with all the locals here again. This is a with Jackson and Roz at Kuta beach. Jackson has the best longboarding headstand style out and a great giggle. Good guy.

Massive tubes and dodgie Photoshop

Alright for those who wanted to see pics of the waves this will have to do, Cant load up my own photo's, (bless the old PC's) this is padang padang this arvo, you may just be able to see the dude standing up in the bottom of the barrel (looks a bit more like a grey dot but it is a guy) anyways you can see the better versions when I return home. Been trying to do magical photoshop things to the photo's using 5.5 can't do it, every things missing.
So yeah too big for me to be in the waves, spending some time cruizing on the motorbike and taking pics.

With bulk antibiotics and some killer throat liquid I have regained my speach and the ability to swallow, yay. The swell has been massive and my profession as a photographer a handy excuse for being a wuss, have been trying to load up some pictures but these quality computers dont handle the RAW files to well. I'll keep trying to find a place else you'll just have to believe the words.

More great waves, really busy in Bali this year.
I've come down with a killer cold/flu and lost my voice, early nights and early mornings, lifes good.

Landed in Bali, now well relaxed and getting browner already.
Had an amazing morning of the glassiest water, the sea blending into the sky and some awesome light although super beautiful made it pretty hard to see the waves coming.
I love this place.

Oh and other exciting news, I finally booked an exhibition space for my Timor work to be in the Foto Freo Fringe festival, the bi-annual international Photographer Festival, It will be at Harvest in North Fremantle from 4th April till 4th May, so keep your eye out for it.

Jelly fish

I was up at AQWA last Saturday night photographing an awards night, I got there early and had a chance to photograph some of the animals, these jelly fish were by far my favorite, how amazing are the lines and shapes that they carry.

This house just round the corner is great, just needs some big storm clouds and lots of crows, I'm waiting for the day with my camera ready. Mind you, Samm in her vintage attire sets the scene well.

Volcano NZ

Found my medium format negs that I shot in NZ earlier this year, it's volcanic steam but these images make me think of a bush fire or battle field from an old war movie.
What an amazing country.
